Job Description

Alabama State University, College of Business Administration, invites applications for the position of Assistant/Associate Professor. Faculty teach within their academic subjects or disciplines, and are responsible for successfully addressing established student learning outcomes in each course and section taught. Faculty teach courses at times, locations, and via modalities that best respond to student and departmental needs, conduct both teaching and research, are Scholarly Academic (SA) at all times as per AACSB standard.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Teach assigned courses
  • Facilitate, and inspire learning through proven and innovative teaching and academic support methodologies
  • Plan all lessons, and assignments with a focus of student success
  • Develop, and deliver course curricula and syllabi for each course section delivered, ensuring compliance with college and department standards
  • Assess student's progress, and adjust instructional techniques, resources and assignments as appropriate
  • Remain up-to-date with developments in the discipline and best practices for teaching in the discipline by reading scholarly articles, talking with colleagues, participating in professional conference, conducting appropriate classroom-based research designed to improve student learning outcomes, and/or publishing original research and analyses in books and academic journals
  • Advise students on an individual basis about courses required for degree completion, and how to achieve their short-term and long-term career goals
  • Provide services both to the University and the community
  • Supervise student workers, and assistants
  • Participate in shared governance by serving on academic and administrative committees that review and recommend policies, deliberate budget, advise on hiring and promotions within the department, and other appropriate college activities

Minimum Qualifications

An earned PhD in Management from an AACSB accredited college of business, and a strong research portfolio are required. ABD may be considered.

It is to be noted that for the purpose of continuous improvement of faculty qualifications as faulty members complete advanced degrees, certifications, licenses, etc., the faculty member will send official documentation, within 45 days of hire, to the Office of Human Resources, and the credentialing file in Academic Affairs.
