Job Purpose
Support the transportation cost and budget optimization requirements through investigation, validation, and resolution of transportation damage claims to protect company cost and ensure correct liability assignment. Apply basic technical and problem-solving skills to prevent and/or minimize impact to operations and support achievement of logistics targets.
Key Accountabilities
- Gain knowledge and utilize Transportation Management Systems (TMS), analytics tools and software to propose solutions for improved delivery efficiency and support cost efficiency improvements.
- Utilize transportation reporting metrics to interpret results and identify gaps and opportunities to enhance process improvements within budget and cost optimization utilizing appropriate escalation of critical issues to group and/or unit leadership for proper resolution.
- Establish and maintain internal and external communication networks to promote positive relationships with Logistics Providers and Honda teams focused on delivery and cost efficiency with continuous improvement activities.
- Collaborate with key stakeholders from Cross-Docks, Carriers, Packaging, Operations, and Transportation, etc. to support projects and activities relevant to improvement of Key Performance Indicators (KPI 2019s) and countermeasure development.
- Contribute to carrier sourcing, rate analysis, and bid evaluations to support cost-effective and reliable freight procurement decisions
- Strive for continuous improvement through cycling Plan/Do/Check/Action (PDCA) for areas of responsibility and initiative through special projects/studies to ensure associate success.
Qualifications, Experience, and Skills
Minimum Educational Qualifications: Bachelor 2019s Degree in Business or Supply Chain or equivalent experience
Average Experience: 0-2 years equivalent experience
Other Job-Specific Skills:
- Basic knowledge of Transportation and/or Supply Chain Management.
- Proficient in PowerPoint, Excel, and Outlook.
- Strong communication and organization skillset to manage Honda internal and external customers and problem resolution.
Working Conditions
- Must be able to work overtime approximately 3-5 hours per week.
- Potential need for weekends and/or shift coverage from 1st to 2nd shift to help provide support during peak times of year or as needed.
- Fast-paced environment with critical deadlines.
- Occasional travel between plants/divisions or for project assignments.
- Hybrid work conditions with mix of projects and collaboration with cross-functional teams.
